Verification

Each request to open an account is unique and varies in terms of requirements. An Onboarding Manager will be assigned to support you, alongside your Relationship Manager, to ensure you’re fully supported throughout the onboarding process.

Your Onboarding Manager will be your point of contact throughout the account opening process. You will receive his or her details via e-mail at the beginning of the process.

Your Relationship Manager is your main point of contact for your overall corporate banking relationship with HSBC.

Your Onboarding Manager is assigned to you at the beginning of the account opening process. He or she will guide and support you until your account is open and operational. Your Relationship Manager is your main point of contact through and will continue to support your overall banking needs, even after your account has been opened.

All fields need to be filled, however, some sections might not be applicable. Please mark these sections as ‘not applicable’ or N/A.

As each account opening is unique, the information and documents required will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Below is a list of commonly requested documents:

• Memorandum of Association
• Articles of Association
• Organisational Structure Chart
• Trade License
• Certificate of Incorporation
• Passport /Visa copies of connected parties
• Power of Attorney
• Board Resolution

Please note that if your account has not been opened within 90 days from point of submitting your documents, you will need to re-submit them to ensure all information is still valid.

Your Onboarding Manager will endeavour to use any scanned documents you provide to help expedite the account opening process. However, please note that certain documents can only be validated by HSBC once we have received hard copies with original signatures.

An attested document is:

a) Notarised/Certified where the document was executed,
b) Legalised is required when a legal document is executed by a company outside of Bahrain, and
c) Consulrised by a Bahrain Embassy.

Details of each of these steps are below:

Notarised/Certified

The document has been signed in the presence of a Notary Public Official after verification of the ID of the person who signed the document.

Legalisation

Legalised by the ministry of foreign affairs of the country where it was executed (as applicable) 'Legalisation” is verification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in the jurisdiction where a document has been Notarised or certified) of the signature and stamp of the Notary Public Official.

Consularised

'Consularised’ is the verification of the stamp and signature fixed on a document by a country’s foreign affairs office by a Bahrain embassy in that country.

FATCA – the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act - is United States government legislation designed to prevent US Persons from using financial institutions to avoid taxation. A significant number of countries worldwide have or are expected to sign Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) relating to FATCA compliance with the United States government. These IGAs will result in FATCA becoming part of these countries’ banking systems.

The account opening process is subject to internal checks and procedures. Once all checks and procedures are satisfied, your account will be opened.
